Good governance is an approach aimed at improving the performance of political and governmental institutions, which has seen significant global expansion over the past four decades. One of the most recognized indicators of good governance is the eight indicators of the United Nations Development Programme. Law is not far removed from the realm of governance, and there is a close relationship between law and governance. Law legitimizes and frames governance. The constitution, which sits at the top of the hierarchy of legal rules, serves as the charter of governance for states. The present research seeks to answer the question: what are the implications of the principles of good governance in the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran? To address this question, a qualitative research method focused on semantics in the humanities has been employed. According to the implications derived from this research, the principles of good governance have various formal implications in the constitution, but in terms of content, different meanings of the commonly understood principles of good governance can be interpreted within the constitution.
